Your Rights & Responsibilities

At Children First, we believe in working together with families in a respectful and supportive way. While your family is receiving services, here’s what you can expect – and how you can help make the experience the best it can be.

Your Rights

You and your family have the right to:

  • Be an active and valued partner in all parts of your child and family’s journey with us.
  • Know who is working with your family and what their role is.
  • Understand the possible risks and benefits of any treatment or support options, including when changes are made.
  • Be treated with kindness, respect, and fairness, no matter your background or circumstances.
  • Have your personal information kept private and used in ways that respect your wishes.
  • Receive services in a welcoming, safe, and accessible environment.
  • Get information and support in ways that suit how you and your family learn and communicate best.
  • Share any concerns or complaints and have a clear process to help resolve them.
  • Change your mind and withdraw your consent at any time.
  • Choose to stop receiving services from Children First whenever you wish.

Your Responsibilities

As part of your family’s time with Children First, we kindly ask that you:

  • Take part in all aspects of your child and family’s support and services.
  • Share accurate and timely information about your child and family to help us provide the best care.
  • Ask questions whenever something isn’t clear—we’re here to help!
  • Treat everyone with kindness, respect, and fairness.
  • Let us know if you decide you no longer wish to continue with services.
