At Children First, we believe in working together with families in a respectful and supportive way. While your family is receiving services, here’s what you can expect – and how you can help make the experience the best it can be.
Your Rights
You and your family have the right to:
- Be an active and valued partner in all parts of your child and family’s journey with us.
- Know who is working with your family and what their role is.
- Understand the possible risks and benefits of any treatment or support options, including when changes are made.
- Be treated with kindness, respect, and fairness, no matter your background or circumstances.
- Have your personal information kept private and used in ways that respect your wishes.
- Receive services in a welcoming, safe, and accessible environment.
- Get information and support in ways that suit how you and your family learn and communicate best.
- Share any concerns or complaints and have a clear process to help resolve them.
- Change your mind and withdraw your consent at any time.
- Choose to stop receiving services from Children First whenever you wish.
Your Responsibilities
As part of your family’s time with Children First, we kindly ask that you:
- Take part in all aspects of your child and family’s support and services.
- Share accurate and timely information about your child and family to help us provide the best care.
- Ask questions whenever something isn’t clear—we’re here to help!
- Treat everyone with kindness, respect, and fairness.
- Let us know if you decide you no longer wish to continue with services.
